Bernice Bailey

Bernice "Toad" Bailey, 88, of Sunfield, passed away at 7:45 P.M., Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Bernice was a homemaker.  She had worked at Blue Bell Packing for many years.  She had also worked at Hollywood Candy Company.  She was a member of the Sunfield United Methodist Church.
She was born August 18, 1915 at Sunfield, IL, the daughter of Jack and Addie (Lemmon) Bishop.
She married Lavern Dale "Twee" Bailey in 1936 at Wickliffe, KY and he preceded her in death on September 28, 1994.
She is survived by one daughter - Naomi "Dot" Cooper and husband Ed of Syracuse, NY, one son - George Bailey and wife Sherry of Sunfield, one brother - Jackie Bishop of Sunfield, one sister - Minnie Heape of Du Quoin, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Mary Ellen Roach, one son - James Earl Bailey, one brother - Archie Bishop, and two sisters - Esther Rainwater and Margaret Davis.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 13, 2004 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin with Rev. Jerry Dunn officiating.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Sunfield United Methodist Church Building Fund.
